Drawing Challenge Day 3: Mythical Creature

If you’ve been following along with the 5 Day Draw challenge, you’ll remember that the Day 3 assignment was to draw a mythical creature that combined 3 different animals determined by the roll of the die.  My 3 animals turned out to be an owl, an angler fish and a snake.

I decided it might be fun to to colorize this drawing, so after sketching a few rough ideas with a pencil, I came up with an owlanglersnake that I like.  I inked it in by hand and scanned in that drawing.  I then used Adobe Photoshop to add color and some lighting effects.

The solution to this challenge created by the instructor Von Glitschka’s daughter was really cool to see, so definitely check out the video on the “5-Day Drawing Challenge: Diversify Your Drawing” course. I hope you  join in on this challenge.  If you do, feel free to post your solutions.  I’d love to see them.

The Day 4 challenge is to draw a picture using a found object as inspiration, so I guess I’ll be rummaging around the house today looking for my muse.
